Nov 7: AustCham Shanghai 2017 Melbourne Cup
Tickets are now on sale (grab them here)
for the AustCham Shanghai 2017 Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, November 7.
This year the event will take place in the iconic Shanghai Tower Garden
Ballroom and Outdoor Terrace. The event program features a three-course
lunch with free-flow wine and beer, entertainment, raffle, silent
auction, fashions on the field contest, after party, and of course the
famous horserace televised live from Melbourne, Australia, all the while
raising significant funds for charity.

Nov 7: NBA Player Tracey Murray Live at The Camel
Tracey
Murray launched his career as a stellar college player with the UCLA
Bruins, and then spent 12 years in the NBA playing for The Wizards,
Lakers, Rockets, Blazers and Raptors.He’s touring China to support the
Brother Hoops Charity an will be making an appearance at The Camel.

Nov 8: Sean Nicholas Savage with Molly Nilsson + Better Person
This
excellent and eclectic line-up at Yuyintang brings together acclaimed
Canadian musician Sean Nicholas Savage, known for his distinctive voice
and lo-fi indie pop, with brooding Swedish pop act Molly Nilsson and
Berlin synth pop producer Better Person.

Nov 8-11: Rau Ram Pop-Up
La
Maison hosts this three-day pop-up from Rau Ram, a Southeast Asian
bistro from Pun + Projects in Yangon, Myanmar. The ticket price gets you
a set menu by Rau Ramís Hawaiian chef Kevin Ching (vegan and vegetarian
options available) and a cocktail menu featuring Southeast Asian
specialty drinks is also on offer.

Nov 9: Kristallnacht Jewish Ghetto Tour
On
the anniversary of Kristallnacht, Newman Tours hosts a one-off tour
focusing on the plight of the Jews that managed to escape to Shanghai
from Nazi-occupied Europe. Tour stops include the Hongkou Ghetto, the
neighborhood in which Jewish refugees resided in Japanese-occupied
Shanghai, as well as the Mascot Roof Garden and the Shanghai Jewish
Refugees Museum.

Nov 9: Modern Women of Wellness
Co-working
space Paper Shanghai hosts this evening focused on women and wellness
with inspirational talks from 6 keynote speakers. Topics include
self-care practices, knowing your limits and adapting to a changing
environment.

Nov 9: HVOB
Vienna-based
electronic duo HVOB perform their organic, emotional take on electronic
music live with a drummer, and have been receiving acclaim for the
uniqueness of the tracks on their latest album, 2017’s Silk. Catch their

Nov 9-Dec 3: Jersey Boys
This acclaimed jukebox musical, which won the Tony Award for Best
Musical in 2006, tells the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons,
an iconic Italian-American band formed in New Jersey in the 1960s. See
their story come alive onstage and hear renditions of classic Four
Seasons songs like 'Sherry,' 'Big Girls Don't Cry,' and 'Can't Take My
Eyes Off of You.'

Nov 10: Made in Shanghai - The Kickoff with DJ Cut Killer
UNICO
invites France’s DJ Cut Killer for a set of hip-hop meshed with rock,
pop and reggae. Catch him at the club for the debut of their new Friday
party series, Made in Shanghai. Entry is free from 11pm-midnight with
the password ‘Coco.’ Otherwise, RMB100.

Nov 10: The 尺口MP x Siamese Cats
Fuzhou-based band The 尺口MP (or The Romp), who released an EP of catchy,
poppy surf-rock on Guangzhou's Qiii Snacks Records earlier this year,
come to Shanghai for a show alongside quirky Japanes pop-rockers Siamese
Cats.

Nov 10: Silent Servant
Fiercely
original techno producer Silent Servant, who’s based in LA, comes to
Shanghai for a set at All. Founder of the label Jealous, he’s known for
the experimental nature of his dark and cerebral DJ sets.

Nov 11: Pac 12 China Game
This
fall marks the third year that the Pac-12, the prestigous league made
up of 12 of the worldís best universities, will open its menís
basketball season in China. This year, UCLA will face off against
Georgia Tech in an intense season opener. The game will be streamed live
on ESPN in the US as well as on Youku sports.

Nov 11: Chic-a-go-go with Round Eye and Lao Ayi
Chic-a-go-go
is a long-running Chicago public access television show with a cult
following. The show has featured an astounding roster of musical guests
over the years, from Patti Smith to Sonic Youth to Snoop Dogg, and will
be recording an episode in Shanghai at Yuyintang, where local bands
Round Eye, Lao Ayi and Dirty Fingers will perform.

Nov 11: M Talks China: Little Soldiers: An American Boy, A Chinese School and the Global Race to Achieve
In her new book, Little Soldiers: An American Boy, A Chinese School and the Global Race to Achieve,
journalist Lenora Chu attempts to break down the stereotypes
surrounding the Chinese education system, chronicling her own journey as
a parent and raises issues about rural inequality and academic
achievement among young children in China. Catch the author speak about
her book at Glam.

Nov 11: Supperclub 4th Anniversary
Rescheduled
from October, Shanghai's premiere fine dining pop-up event celebrates
their fourth anniversary in style with this surrealism-themed party at a villa in Sinan
Mansions. Expect food from Pop Secret and kooky themed cocktails by Summergate, plus trippy, dreamy performances by Anson Chen, Kathryn Robbins, Niu Yun, Katy Roseland, and more.

Nov 11: DJ Die
Wonky
Kong hosts Bristol-based electronic music pioneer DJ Die. He founded
his own drum & bass label, Full Cycle Recordings, and was a member
of musical projects Reprazent and Breakbeat Era. Catch his set at Dada.

Nov 12: Shanghai International Marathon
This
world-class marathon event, which has been awarded a gold medal by IAAF
for 5 straight years, returns to Shanghai with 5k, 10k and full
marathon options available for every age and experience level. More than
3,000 volunteers are on hand throughout the race to ensure safety and
support, and training programs are on offer in advance of the day.
Approximately 38,000 runners are expected to compete, turning the whole
city into a carnival of runners for the day.

Nov 12: M Talks China: Creating Across Cultures: Chinese Women in the Arts
In the latest M Talk at Glam, writer and editor Michelle Vosper introduces her new book, Creating Across Cultures: Women in the Arts from China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan,
which introduces 16 Asian female artists and their work spanning
writing, composing, filmmaking and choreography. Joining Vosper at the
talk is master Sichuan opera performer Tian Mansha, one of the women
featured in the book.
