The Common Places: Huang Hai-Hsin

Huang Hai-Hsin's solo exhibition at Capsule Shanghai captures the oddities and eccentricities of everyday life. Sketches, paintings and video installations cover a wide range of subjects, illustrating her keen attention to the world around us and the diversity in which these details manifest themselves.

Capricious Structures

This multimedia exhibiton in Xintiandi showcases a number of independent projects from young artists living in Hangzhou, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and London/Amsterdam. Through visuals, they've set out to restructure narratives around concepts like urban conditions, industrialization, technology, economy and race, in a multidimensional exploration of identity and existence.

Waiting for Mulungu: Sinphiwe Ndzube

Closing this week, this exhibit by Johannesburg-born dancer and artist Simphiwe Ndzube explores his home city's complex history and black South African culture through his vibrant and energetic paintings, which depict traditional dances like the Pantsula and their socio-political connotations. This is your last chance to check out these vibrant, mixed-media artworks at CC Foundation & Art Center.

Soft Power 2018: A Female Artists' Exhibition

As part of Leo Gallery's 10 year anniversary celebrations, the gallery hosts Soft Power 2018: A Female Artists' Exhibition, which is the sixth installment of their annual Soft Power series. Boundary-breaking works from print maker Ingrid Ledent will be shown alongside the works of Lin Yan, who uses rice paper as a medium to explore intersections between Chinese and Western culture.

Undercurrents is Pearl Lam Galleries' summer group show. Exploring themes like self-consciousness and the boundaries of imagination, the show features works from Li Yongbin, Mu Xue, Shi Yiran and lots more, with a special highlight of never-before-seen works by Zhou Maiyou alongside works from the 80s by his mentor Zhu Jinshi.

Turning Point: 40 Years of Chinese Contemporary Art

An ideal exhibit for anyone interested in contemporary Chinese art, Turning Point showcases the best of Long Museum's extensive collection of post-Reform artwork. Explore paintings, sculptures, videos and installations from 90s greats like Yue Minjun, Cai Guoqiang, Zhang Xiaogang plus more contemporary artists like Cao Fei.
