Gird your loins and lock up your daughters, Liquid Laundry is throwing itself a third birthday party this Thursday, and if it's anything like the last one, it's going to mean lots of awesome food and probably a hangover.
This year, the participating chefs from restaurants across town will be transformed into icons from rock 'n' roll, as demonstrated by some rather convincing pre-event photos. They'll be cooking up tasty small plates from 'stations' around the restaurant that riff on the night's musical theme.
For example? Chefs Beth Cosgrove (Alan Wong's) and Simon Sunwoo (Liquid Laundry, Cobra Lily) – dressed as Guns 'n' Roses' Slash and Axl Rose – will be serving up 'Sweet Child of Swine': crispy pork belly lettuce wraps with honey ssam jiang, nori and kimchi.
Joining them will be the chefs of Jean Georges, Commune Social, Madison Kitchen, Highline, Pirata, Goga, Barbarossa, el Willy, and Cobra Lily. Booze comes via hip independent spirits company Gotham East.
Each RMB150 ticket sold on the door snags you three tokens that you can use at any chef station or on cocktails. An additional three tokens can be purchased for RMB100 thereafter.
Show starts from 6pm until late, and we recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment, since all the pre-sale tickets are sold out.
