The Shanghai Metro is asking residents to vote for the decor of the new Disneyland metro station, which will service (surprisingly enough) Shanghai Disney Resort, due to open in the Pudong New Area in 2015.
The Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co Ltd has drawn up six proposals for the decor of the Disney Station and wants residents to select their favourite. The most popular will be an important reference when the station is built, the company said (the subtext being that residents may be ignored at the whim of the Metro). All six proposed decor styles contain Chinese elements, Shanghai culture and Disney characters.
Voting ends on November 17 and results will be announced at the end of the month.
The new Disneyland Line is an extension of Line 11 and is expected to open at the same time of the Shanghai Disney Resort.
