We Eat It And So Should You: Cinnamon Bun Ice Cream

'We Try It' is a regular series where we try the latest off-beat eats.

It's hot as balls in Shanghai right now, and you're right we need a scoop of ice cream to cool down. Cinna Swirl, those guys who make cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing, probably realized at some point that eating hot sticky buns in the Shanghai summertime is equal to sticking your body into a furnace. 

So they invented a limited edition ice cream version:

Taste-wise the base flavor strikes as a creamy, very thick vanilla, with a strong current of cinnamon bun and cream cheese frosting flavor swirling through it – it’s almost like eating the actual thing, and certainly more refreshing in the hot weather. 

Fancy it? One scoop is RMB20, and two is RMB30, including a waffle cone. Available for a limited time only.


This article was updated on August 4 to reflect that the ice cream does not contain actual bun pieces, rather the cinnamon-based flavoring of them.
