Have a stroll in L’Avenue’s ‘magic forest’ Christmas market and fill
your shopping basket with artisanal gifts from Paris. In collaboration

25 Parisian indie designer brands such as Macon&Lesquoy and Lola

Nov 23-Jan 3: Merry Kissmas at Xintiandi
Visit
Xintiandi’s Kissmass tree for an alternative to mistletoe. Followed by
its Milano and London fandom, this Kissmass tree is back in Xintiandi
for the third time. Every kiss lights up the tree and raises education
funds for young children. After a socially-acceptable PDA, make sure to
visit the market for festive essentials like Christmas decorations,
handicrafts and treats including cupcakes that look like succulent
plants.

Nov 24: La Moustache
Sub-Cinema and Doc Guthrie's team up to screen this surreal French movie. One day, Marc tells his wife that he’s thinking about shaving off his moustache for the first time in 15 years. She says it’s a bad idea, he does it anyway. While newly unshaved, no one notices. Eventually Marc breaks only to be told he had never had a mustache. Nov 24: Mother Teresa of Cats
Craft KinoClub’s Polish month continues with this 2010 feature based on the gruesome true story of a mother murdered by her two sons. The film has received acclaim for a plot that acts as a metaphor for the condition of the Polish family. Buy one get one free drink deals all night with great food from La Coyota available.

Nov 24-27: Masters of Food & Wine
Park Hyatt Shanghai is the place to be for gourmands and vinophiles as it hosts its fifth annual elite showcase of gourmet food and wine. Michelin-starred chefs Pierre Gagnaire (Nov 27), Emmanuel Renaut (Nov 26) and Akrame Benallal (Nov 25) will join S. Pelligrino’s Best 50 Restaurants award winning chef Lansu Chen (Nov 24) in presenting four gala dinners that promise to be a truly immersive experience. Celebrity pastry chef Fabien Berteau and other celebrity guests will lead classes highlighting their expertise from wines to floral arrangements.

Nov 25: The Martian
Matt Damon has been winning universal rave reviews for his role as an astronaut stranded on Mars and presumed dead. Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator) directs this visual epic that has been getting early buzz as an Oscar contender for Best Film. Check out all the Hollywood movies in Chinese cinemas this month.
Nov 25: Fedde le Grand
The Dutch house DJ scored a worldwide hit with ‘Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit.’ He’s consistently ranked near the top of DJ Magazine’s Annual Top 100 DJ List and is a Shanghai favorite who was among the first STORM headliners.

Nov 25-27: Stellar Chef@10 Corso Como - Massimo Bottura

Corso Como hosts one of the leading figures in a new generation of
Italian chefs, Massimo Bottura. His restaurant Osteria Francescana was
recently ranked second in the 2015 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list
thanks to Bottura’s award-winning trailblazing culinary approach. His
first English language book, Never Trust a Skinny Italian Chef will be
officially released in China on Wednesday at 3pm at 10 Corso Como.
Bottura will also be serving up an eight-course dinner with wine pairing
from Wednesday to Friday.

Nov 25-29: Le Pere Noel est une Ordure
The
iconic French play follows the hijinks in a Parisian call center and
its wacky characters on Christmas Eve. The show will be performed in
Shanghai for the first time and in French language.

Nov 26: Flying Lotus
The Los Angeles producer is one of the most respected names in music these days. Related to jazz legends John, Alice and Ravi Coltrane, Flying Lotus lives up to the family legacy with his potent mix of Los Angeles underground and experimental IDM; filtered through a free jazz sensibility. His latest album You’re Dead featured Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder. It won universal critical acclaim while cracking the Billboard Top 20. Even more exciting is that the producer will be bringing his epic live A/V set-up with him to QSW Culture Center for his Mainland debut and we're giving away a pair of tickets. Nov 26: Gilles Peterson
The BBC Radio 6 DJ has been shaping tastes since the late-1980s, where he played a pivotal role in the early careers of acid jazz favorites like Jamiroquai and Brand New Heavies. Peterson was an early adopter of current music icons like Erykah Badu and Roni Size, while recently giving his coveted seal of approval to Beijing future producer Howie Lee. Expect a night to sample all the soulful shades of funk.

Nov 26-27: Christmas Fantasy at Jing’an Kerry Center
Jing’an
Kerry Center presents the second Christmas Fantasy on its Piazza. Come
devour some traditional delicacies in a real holiday atmosphere
featuring a four-storey tall Christmas tree and arrays of wooden huts.
It is also not a bad idea to get drunk on Glühwein and revisit your
childhood Santa horror afterwards at Santa VIP house. There is a
lighting ceremony on December 2nd, Christmas party on the 24th and 25th, and
NYE Countdown party on the 31st.

Nov 27: Wild Children
The Chinese folk icons spurred on the late 1990s Beijing roots scene with their mix of northwestern songs and Western instruments. They recently reunited with a successful arena tour and lauded new single. They take over Shanghai Grand Stage to celebrate 20 years of Yellow River Rock, backed by a stellar bill of acclaimed troubadors like Xiao He, Moxizishi, Lao Lang and Song Yuzhe.

The city’s original comedy promoters are bringing in a loaded triple bill of Paul Zenon, Andrew Stanley and Damian Clark. Zenon’s comedy-magic has made him a favorite in both worlds. Pearl hosts the second edition of this Christmas Market that boasts a
classy Parisian theme. 40 vendors will peddling unique and handmade

There’s
another reason to visit the West Bund this month. After hosting a
German Christmas Market last year, Xuhui Binjiang will be the home of a
Medieval Christmas Market. Expect a range of stalls selling artisanal
crafts and a number of food and drink vendors. Live entertainment like
theatre shows and a cosplay competition will add to the festivities.

Nov 29: Pudong Shangri-la Charity Santa Run

Nov 29: Manliest Market in Town
Doc Guthrie’s is celebrating Movember with the Manliest Market in town.
