My name is Mike Robinson, from Manchester, England and I am an independent artist specialising in lino cut printing. Many famous artists have worked in lino cut, from Picasso to M. C. Escher, and it was in viewing Escher's prints that first got me interested in this medium.
I took life drawing classes for over 10 years before deciding to study art and design full time. It was during my Foundation Course that I first tried lino cut. At my third attempt, I finally began to understand it and it became my preferred medium, forming the basis of my Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art. Since moving to Shanghai in August 2017, I continued my life drawing practice at 'Sip N Paint' and have successfully taught lino cut classes whilst serving as Artist-in-Residence at Wellington College. I have had work exhibited in England, Norway and China.
In this workshop, you will be introduced to lino cut technique, with the aim of producing and A6 plate to make prints from. I hope you will find it as absorbing as I have!
