During their history of more than thirty-five years, the Shanghai Quartet has become one of the world's foremost chamber ensembles with their passionate musicality, impressive technique and multicultural innovations. Their recital features three pieces in totally different styles, and the one worth most attention is Tan Dun's early work Feng Ya Song. Composed in 1983, it won the first composition prize for a Chinese composer after 1949 and is considered a milestone in the history of modern Chinese music. In their recital, the Shanghai Quartet will perform the revised version of it completed recently.
