As of 2019, The Shanghai Tavern will update its lunch menu every month. New dishes in March will include three kinds of starters, three kinds of main courses like a Grilled Chicken Leg with Grilled Vegetables, Seared Salmon, Cauliflower Risotto with Blue Cheese and Garlic Chips, and one dessert from the trolley. Most of the inspiration comes from the ingredients and what is available in the market place. All the menus are based around ingredients but it has to have a balance as well, whether it is a fish, meat or vegetarian dish. But sometimes, The Shanghai Tavern also adapts current dishes to new ones.
