If you’re packing your bags for that long-awaited summer getaway, you might want to take one last look at your power bank.
Starting tomorrow, June 28, China’s Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC) will enforced stricter flight regulations banning power banks that do not meet China Compulsory Certification (CCC) standards from all domestic flights.
That includes devices:
Without a 3C logo
With unclear or damaged labels
Any recalled brands or batches flagged for safety risks.
The move follows a string of mid-air fire incidents this year involving lithium battery-powered devices, with faulty or uncertified power banks cited as frequent culprits.
Several major power bank brands have issued product recalls in recent months due to safety concerns with battery cells, prompting China’s market regulator to suspend or revoke 3C certification for multiple manufacturers.
To counter these rising risks, aviation authorities are tightening the checks at airports nationwide, with security officers instructed to scrutinize all power banks during security screenings.
So, what exactly is the 3C certification mark?

Short for China Compulsory Certification, the '3C' label is a mandatory safety standard for electronics sold and used in China.
Manufacturers have been required to secure 3C certification for power banks since August 1, 2024, but enforcement largely targeted factories and retailers.
Now, just as the peak summer holiday rush begins, aviation authorities are extending that scrutiny to individual travelers to close a critical safety gap.
The message is clear: check your device before you head to the airport.
Look for the 3C logo, verify the product model online if needed, and if your power bank looks suspiciously unmarked, it’s probably best to leave it behind.
