Maybe it’s just in the DNA of nature-loving people to crave an open air space where we can relax over barbecue and drinks.
That craving can be fulfilled by sitting alone or with friends at Pursue Bar.
Pursue Bar’s owner Nolan (疯衣) wanted to create a relaxing space for his guests to creatively explore and understand themselves through music and atmosphere.
Located right behind Dadonghai’s board walk, the wood and green of Pursue Bar’s decoration offers a great spot to watch the sun slip away into the breeze. The lights and music that drift in the night create a laidback and no-stress date location. It is reminiscent of We Are Dating in the city center but with quieter, less obnoxious music and less smoke.
Nolan told That’s he himself struggled with depression in the past, so he knows how important a location simply to enjoy life is incredibly important for mood-boosting and self-discovery. The Chinese name of the bar is 寻欢谷 (xúnhuāngǔ), which directly translated is a pleasure-seeking valley.
His steady guests are loyal fans who met him through his musical instrument tuning work. Nolan himself plays guitar and sometimes sings in English. The stage is open to musicians and karaoke singers. Nolan often strums out a melody for his guests.
Tea, beers and drinks, like mojitos and Long Island Ice Tea, are available at reasonable prices. Barbecue and snacks are available but as the bar is always exploring and seeking more, additional culinary offerings are being investigated.
The team at Pursue Bar is very open to suggestions. When there we noticed a specific plant they had in the corner was turning brown because it had too much sun. When we told Nolan, he almost immediately moved it. That type of flexibility should encourage internationals with good ideas and an open mind for collaboration to come check out Pursue Bar.
The bar opens at 7pm and closes at 2am. If you’d like to reserve the space for a daytime event or a barbecue for your party, you should discuss with Nolan directly, who is at the bar almost every night. Go visit him on your next free night and let him know That’s Sanya sent you.
