Clearwater’s popular Strawberry Music Festival has been a favorite for young and hip locals and tourists, and this year the opening event on May 1 and 2 will be a parent-child party.

The entire Hainan Strawberry Music Festival will be from May 1 to 28 and will be held at Agile Clear Water Bay.

The theme is ‘2021, Watch Me’ and along those lines, the organizers promise events focused around music, art, fashion and companionship.

Similar to the parent-child events of the past, this year’s festival again will invite kid-friendly, interactive musicians and talented child musicians to perform.

Performers and vendors will hold experiential learning activities, and parents will be encouraged to let loose to bond and play with their children.

The opening party event will last from 3.30-9pm on both Saturday and Sunday evenings.

The stage will start hosting musicians at 4pm, including the likes of Tea Jelly (茶凉粉), Potato Kingdom 土豆王国小乐队, the young Miu Miu and other music performances, with the final acts closing at 9pm both days. Two acts that parents might find inspiring on May 2 would be the one of three moms, (滚妈Family Band), and Rhythm Scarlet Man & Yang Hanqi, (节奏猩人&杨含奇), who bring environmental protection issues into their performances through upcycled instruments.

Music styles and performances will range from rock to electronic, interactive to ancient, indie to comical and more.

The classroom activities start at 4pm but will end at 7.40pm. Many of the activities are also lead by the performers. On Saturday, classes include rhythm activities; play art; the rhythm of ancient Chinese poems; and a father and mother activity. On Sunday, there will be a workshop hosted by Cao Fang (performer); a music workshop by Potato Kingdom (performer); a workshop for the renovation of old clothes; and finally an English game workshop.

The area for the children’s party will have a sea monster dress-up theme. This area will have activities such as a bubble machine, toy water gun, rainbow umbrella, fluorescent dance, and inflatables from 3.30pm to 8.20pm along with performances by liia and limbolimbs.
