Revolucion Cocktail is renowned in Guangzhou (as well as several other Chinese cities) for its eclectic lineup of cocktails, from the classics to a diverse range of specialty drinks.
On any given Friday night you will find a hodgepodge of curious locals and heavy-drinking expats mingling and sipping on colorful elixirs.

Although known almost exclusively for crafty drinks, Revolucion is diversifying and making a pass at tapas. That’s right, tapas - the famous small dish appetizers that are a staple in Spanish cuisine.
Ricardo Plazola, from Mexico City, is the man in the captain’s chair, responsible for leading Revolucion’s charge into ‘munchie’ uncharted waters.
“We are excited to be serving food at Revolucion, especially of such high quality, but our focus remains cocktails,” said Thomas Gauthier, managing partner at Revolucion.
According to Gauthier, there will be a fixed menu of four tapas options, with two to four rotating tapas.
Current tapas highlights include the shrimps skewers, crafted with ginger, garlic, lemon grass and aioli (RMB42), the Cuban sandwich, made with roasted pork, marinates with critics and herbs, cheese and hand made pickles (RMB90) and the prosciutto bruschetta, consisting of a baguette, prosciutto and mousse of tomaca (RMB40).
The in-house guacamole is also worth mentioning, it’s the best this Guangzhouer has tasted in the city (so far anyway).
The portions are perfect for soaking-up some evening drinks and from now until the end of Canton Fair you get a free tapas with the purchase of your first cocktail (between 6-8pm).
“I think when people drink they like to snack, they like finger foods,” said Kara Schroeder, international marketing director for Revolucion.
“It also fits with our Latin theme.”
