As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, China Hotel, Guangzhou unveils its 2025 Mooncake Collection—a celebration of Cantonese craftsmanship and Lingnan artistry.

This year’s collection presents seven exquisite mooncake sets, drawing inspiration from the theme 'Golden Threads of Cantonese Embroidery, Birds and Blossoms in Harmony.'

Each box merges the essence of traditional aesthetics with contemporary design, reviving timeless cultural elegance for a new generation.

Alongside the classic flavors of Double-Yolk White Lotus Seed Paste and Ham with Mixed Nuts, this year’s collection introduces innovative creations such as Coconut Latte and Lingnan Lychee, as well as historically inspired recipes under the 'Rediscovery Mooncakes' series, created in collaboration with the Guangzhou Museum.

Adding to the excitement, China Hotel partners once again with the Guangzhou Metro Museum for the playful 'Ride Together This Mid-Autumn' co-branded gift box.

More than festive treats, these mooncakes embody cultural heritage and artisanal spirit, offering a truly authentic Cantonese gift of reunion and refinement.

Cantonese Elegance, Lingnan Heritage

This year’s signature boxes—Classic Cantonese Double-Yolk White Lotus, Cantonese Ham with Mixed Nuts, and Imperial Harmony Gift Set—feature refined color tones of imperial yellow, lotus pink, and gradient crimson, reflecting understated luxury.

Adorned with peony motifs symbolizing 'blossoms under the full moon,' the designs capture the poetic essence of reunion.

The Classic Double-Yolk White Lotus gift box is a work of art, with inner sleeves featuring embossed gold scenes inspired by the hotel’s iconic mural 'Trade Across the Seas' and 'Celebrations in Harmony.'

These illustrations evoke the grandeur of the Maritime Silk Road, depicting Western dancers, Chinese opera, bustling trade, and the glory of seafaring, brought vividly to life through gold-stamped relief.

The Ham with Mixed Nuts box embraces the elegance of Cantonese embroidery with magnolia flowers and songbirds gracing the cover, where delicate partial embroidery techniques add tactile depth, honoring the century-old artistry of Guangxiu.

Inside, golden accents and traditional motifs echo the splendor of Lingnan culture and the festive spirit of family reunion.

The Joy of Four Seasons gift set celebrates nature’s cycles, with a hollow lattice window design reminiscent of Chinese lanterns and embossed panels depicting the hotel’s golden mural.

Each inner box features seasonal blooms—peach blossom, lotus, chrysanthemum, and camellia—symbolizing spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

The flavors—Double-Yolk White Lotus, Ham with Mixed Nuts, Red Bean with Nuts, and Lotus Paste with Salted Egg & Lard—create a harmonious quartet blending classic heritage with poetic imagination: 'Full moon, full hearts, peace through all seasons.'

Rediscovering Cantonese Heritage Through Flavor

Continuing the hotel’s acclaimed cultural initiative—the Rediscovery Series—chefs have meticulously studied century-old advertisements and recipes to revive five historic flavors:

  • Cantonese Sausage Mooncake

  • Roast Chicken Mooncake

  • Xishi Drunken Mooncake (infused with wine)

  • Signature Bean Paste Mooncake

  • Phoenix Mooncake (with salted yolk and preserved delicacies)

These creations balance authenticity with modern health-conscious refinement.

The 'Canton Colors' Collection, co-developed with Guangzhou Museum, draws inspiration from a national-grade artifact: the Qing Dynasty Black Lacquer Embroidered Sewing Box with Gilded Panels, recreated one-to-one for the packaging.

This design bridges food, culture, and art—transforming mooncakes into an edible expression of Cantonese spirit.

Moonlight Treasure Box – A Tribute to Timeless Beauty

The Moonlight Treasure Box fuses traditional craftsmanship with Guangxiu-inspired patterns, conveying auspicious motifs like 'Phoenix Greeting the Sun' and 'Deer and Crane in Harmony.'

Inside, heritage meets innovation with three historic flavors from the Rediscovery Series—Xishi Drunken Mooncake, Milky Way Night Mooncake, and the nostalgic Lotus Paste with Lard and Salted Yolk (a 1960s–70s classic of savory-sweet indulgence)—alongside two modern interpretations: Floral Delight with Rose & Bird’s Nest and Crab Feast Mooncake with seasonal crabmeat.

The box doubles as an elegant three-tier keepsake chest, blending cultural heritage with contemporary utility.

Modern Festivity with Metro Style

For a playful twist, China Hotel reimagines mooncake gifting with the 'Ride Together This Mid-Autumn' co-branded set with Guangzhou Metro Museum.

This limited-edition box transforms into trendy travel gear—its bright yellow casing modeled after a sleek metro train.

Inside, six compartment boxes take the shape of train carriages, with two large boxes converting into silicone crossbody bags and two smaller ones doubling as wrist pouches.

Stylish yet practical, this innovative design adds fun and versatility to festive traditions.

Flavors include Double-Yolk White Lotus, Ham & Mixed Nuts with XO Scallop, Custard Lava Mooncake, and Egg Yolk White Lotus—a curated mix of classics and modern favorites.

China Hotel, Guangzhou, remains committed to delivering excellence in both taste and design—creating mooncakes that are more than festive treats, but cultural gifts of artistry and meaning.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a celebration of family, heritage, and shared joy. Through every detail, we honor the Lingnan spirit and breathe new life into tradition.
