On August 15, the world's premier Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization announced its long-awaited return to Greater China with UFC Fight Night Macau on November 23.
UFC Fight Night Macau will take place in local prime time and be hosted by Galaxy Macau, and marks UFC's fourth event in Macao since 2012, and the seventh overall to be held in Greater China.

Last year, the UFC attempted to book a highly-anticipated fight between top contenders Song Yadong and Petr Yan in Shanghai, but it ultimately fell through.
That fight was moved to the critically acclaimed UFC 299, which saw Song Yadong lose despite putting up an impressive showing against the former champion, Petr Yan.

In recent years, UFC's popularity in China has grown significantly, as the country has produced several elite fighters and rising stars of the sport, including undisputed UFC women's strawweight champion Zhang Weili; top-ranked contenders Song Yadong, Yan Xiaonan, and Sumudaerji; and highly-regarded prospects from Asia's tournament Road to UFC, Zhang Mingyang and Wang Cong.
