In the video, the attendant can be heard saying, "Let me pay for you, it doesn't matter..." before promptly ripping up the banknote in her hand.

According to Pudong Police report, the incident occurred at a parking lot near Shanghai Pudong People's Hospital.

In response to this unlawful act of destroying currency, the Pudong police have taken administrative action against the parking attendant involved.

According to relevant regulations, intentional destruction of Chinese currency may result in a warning from the police and a fine of up to RMB10,000.

In the first quarter of 2023, China Central Bank imposed financial penalties on two entities and their responsible individuals for refusing to accept Chinese currency in cash, as required by law.

In these times of economic recovery, every penny counts! Let's keep them intact and put them to good use – your wallet will thank you for it!
