Is there any better feeling than hangin’ with the squad, enjoying delicious food and drinks while enjoying the sunset on a terrace? We’d say nope.

Amber East Hotel Guangzhou, a relatively new hotel destination in Canton located next to new cultural landmark 289 Art Park on Guangzhou Dadao, is becoming a new go-to spot for city residents looking for a leisure hangout.

Amber East is connected to a high-end commercial complex and a stone’s throw away from a wide variety of entertainment in the capital city.

The hotel’s restaurant, Saffron, brings out the best ingredients of international cuisines while The Amber Terrace Bar is an ideal place to enjoy afternoon tea or cocktails in the evening.

Below, we give you five great reasons to pay a visit to Amber East’s comfy al fresco terrace for a splendid time.

Springtime Cocktails

While we tend to keep a close eye on new dishes at restaurants, we’d make the argument that new cocktails are just as deserving of our attention. At The Amber Terrace Bar, the recently launched limited edition springtime cocktail list is wowing guests with its sakura-themed drinks.

With five cocktails and one mocktail curated by lead bartender Jimi, there’s a drink for everyone at the table. These cocktails incorporate Japanese whiskey and fragrant plum wine into finely crafted creations that turn a warm spring night into a cool breeze.

For starters, the ‘Spring Blast’ mixes Suntory Hakushu 1973 with famous Longjing green tea from Hangzhou and soda water for a chilled, refreshing springtime delight.

Another cocktail to note is ‘Spring turns to Summer’ – featuring Roku Gin, which uses six Japanese botanicals, including sakura flower (cherry blossoms). The Japanese gin is mixed with plum wine, Grand Marnier and orange juice for a crisp and fruity cocktail.

And lastly, this lethal concoction, named ‘Smooth Spring,’ combines Japanese whiskeys’ Yamazaki 1923 and Suntory Hakushu 1973 with Suntory plum wine and lime juice to create a gentle yet bold tasting cocktail.

Each cocktail boasts a unique flavor profile that’s fun to explore. We’d recommend getting a group together and trying them all out for yourselves.

New Set Menu

Guangzhou residents have a reputation around China for being sticklers about food quality. Amber East’s Saffron rises up to meet those standards with their new Fusion Set Dinner – a seafood-focused spread that is simply delectable.

The meal starts with the Amber Salad with Shrimp and Crab Meat Avocado Tartare – a satisfying start with fresh ingredients that match well.

Next is the rich and creamy seafood soup with savory scallops, shrimp and mussels, among other seafood.

For the main course, guests can choose between Grilled Beef Rib Served with Vegetable Sauce & French Foie Gras, Spicy Sous-vide Silver Cod Fish, or Seafood Spaghetti.

We’d recommend opting for the cod as the accompanying cream sauce takes the dish to a whole new level, however, the grilled beef rib is nice and tender and well worth a carnivore’s treat.amber-east-set-menu-3.jpg

The set menu comes to a close with a Mocha Chocolate Cake with Fruit Sampler. Regardless of how full you may be, this dessert is not to be skipped and will overload your taste buds with chocolate and fruity goodness.

Block Party

Amber East is in a great location across from Zhujiang New Town and just up the road from Ersha Island. Think Saturday picnics in the park followed by an afternoon tea or boozy evening on the hotel’s terrace.

Amber East’s terrace is one of the most accessible in the city at a central location and looking out over Zhujiang New Town and down towards the Pearl River.
