That’s Guangzhou takes a look at the best of the weekend.
Fri Sept 11: Speed Dating
This Friday night the Happy Monk (Xingsheng Lu) is organizing speed dating. While you may not meet a life partner at this social outing, you might just make a friend. So come on out and enjoy a night of (hopefully good) conversation.
Fri Sept 11: Sonny Rollins
Brasston's will be playing the cool, easy-listening sounds of Sonny Rollins this Friday. Come out and enjoy some soulful music while destroying slice after slice of delightful pizza. It’s a good way to spend your Friday night.
Sat Sept 12: Sakura Party
Come out this Friday night for Gorgeous Club’s Sakura Party. If you’re into scantily clad men and sexy dancing then Gorgeous is the place to be.
Sat Sept 12: Karaoke at Rebel Rebel
If you’ve never fallen off the stage at Rebel Rebel’s karaoke Saturdays, then you don’t know what you’re missing (we don’t recommend you actually fall off the stage, though, because that hurts). Hosted by Frank, this is one of Guangzhou’s truly enjoyable Saturday events.
Sat Sept 12: Voter Registration and American Brunch
The 2020 American General Election is November 3. If you are American, you can register to vote in Guangzhou while enjoying a boozy brunch. Come do your civic duty and meet other Americans while enjoying two-hour free flow brunch before 3pm.
Sat Sept 12: DJ Simon B
Saturday night is happening with DJ Simon B serving up a funky mix of City Pop, disco and Old Skool. The dance floor at Bad Habit by Rozz Tox will be bouncing, so bust out your dancin’ shoes! Bad Habit by Rozz Tox will be serving quality drinks until late.
Sun Sept 13: Chinese Movie Night
This Sunday evening come out to Kui Yuan Gallery to watch the independent movie known in English as The Coffin in the Mountain. The movie takes a look at the relationship between family, tradition, freedom, reality and morality in Chinese culture.
Sun Sept 13, 6.30pm. Kui Yuan Gallery. 9 Xuguyuan lu, Yuexiu District 越秀区恤孤院路9号. See event listing.
