Wed, Nov 20: Gang of Four

Gang of Four have been playing live shows since 1977, and are considered one of the most radical rock groups of the last 30 years. They’re energetic, aggressive and iconic, with tickets likely to sell out before their scheduled gig at Mao Livehouse. They serve as an influence to the likes of Massive Attack, INXS and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, so if any of those bands tickle your fancy, you’re going to want to check out this show.

Thu, Nov 21: Beaujolais Nouveau 2019

It’s Beaujolais Nouveau season once more, and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Canton, in partnership with the Consulate General of France in Canton, is going to celebrate the arrival of this year’s grape harvest with a fun, wine-centric event. Join to meet new friends, show off your French- and Chinese-language skills and quaff glasses of delightful ruby-red wine. Fri, Nov 22: Branford Marsalis Quartet

The opening act of this year’s Guangzhou Jazz Festival will be led by the Branford Marsalis Quartet, which was founded by the eponymous, Grammy-winning saxophonist. With a career that spans four decades, Branford Marsalis has collaborated with the likes of Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie. The quartet are slated for an eight-program concert on Friday.

Fri, Nov 22: Marriott South China Charity Golf Tournament 2019

For anyone looking to get back on the golf course, consider taking part in this year’s Marriott South China Charity Golf Tournament, which is set to take place at Harbour Plaza Golf Club in Dongguan on Friday. Entry fee, priced at RMB3,288, will include a gift bag worth RMB3,000, brunch and awards dinner as well as refreshments. All proceeds will go to the YAO Foundation. Sat, Nov 23: Made in GZ – Guangzhou Jazz Festival

Tying in a local aspect to the music festival, a ‘Made in Guangzhou’ section will feature jazz musicians hailing from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao at the Guangzhou Jazz Festival. There will be a total of five concerts scheduled on the evening of November 23, and tickets are priced as low as RMB200 (RMB100 for students).

Sat, Nov 23: Outdoor Concert – Guangzhou Jazz Festival

On Saturday, an outdoor concert will take place on the lawn near Xinghai Concert Hall, featuring We Do Jazz Big Band, a renowned group of South China-based jazzmen. We Do are adept at weaving blues, swing, Latino, bossa nova as well as South China-originated melodies into a highly enjoyable musical experience for the audience. The concert starts at 4pm and will feature five ear-pleasing tunes.

Sat, Nov 23: Morton’s Brooklyn Party

Brooklyn Beer and Guangzhou’s Morton’s Grille will host a retro night you won’t want to miss. Eight popular singers from India and three songsters from China will perform on the stage of Beilei Theater, singing in a wide range of languages.
