That’s Guangzhou takes a look at the best events of the week:

Tue, Oct 22: Broncho

Broncho is an American indie rock band based in Norman, Oklahoma that formed in 2010. Churning out thoughtful, nuanced rock and roll with an art school spirit and a punk rock heart, the band’s fourth album, Bad Behavior, finds them leaning into their strengths for their best album yet. Sometimes their nonsensical syllables capture the improvisational joy of pop music better than proper words ever could. Their standout single ‘Class Historian’ is a prime example of these catchy non-lexical vocals.

Tue Oct 22, 8.30pm; RMB150 presale, RMB180 at the door. T:union. See event listing. Tickets

Thu-Fri, Oct 24-25: Vienna Philharmonic

The world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic is the creme de la creme when it comes to symphonic and chamber music. Under the baton of maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada, the orchestra visited Guangzhou in 2017 for the first time, and are slated to return this October for two performances, collaborating with Chinese pianist Wang Yujia, who is a resident musician at New York’s Carnegie Hall, on October 24 and well-known German conductor Christian Thielemann the next day.

Thu-Fri Oct 24-25, 8pm; RMB380-2,880. Xinghai Concert Hall. See event listing. Tickets (Oct 24, Oct 25).

Fri, Oct 25: Inspirative

Guitatrist Noppanan Panicharoen has been rocking out under the moniker Inspirative since 2006. Initially a solo project, Inspirative became a full-fledged band in 2008 and have since gone on to gain a following around the world for their inspired post-rock tracks. Despite the obvious limitations of rocking out in an EDM and hip hop loving Thailand, fearless internet users quickly discovered the charm of Inspirative and their slow-burning, soaring guitar-driven music.

Fri Oct 25, 8.30pm; RMB100 presale, RMB120 door. T:union. See event listing. Tickets
