That’s Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the weekend:
Fri-Sun, Oct 18-20: Supra x Guangzhou Jazz Festival @ Various Venues
Starting tonight, a three-day event featuring live performances at Jojo’s Riverside (Friday), Qing Man Party Restaurant (Saturday) and Pearl River Craft Beer Restaurant (Sunday) is set to impress patrons in what is sure to be a jazzy time. Aside from great music to enjoy with friends of old and new, everyone can look forward to a refreshing pint (or five) of Supra, Zhujiang Brewery’s very own craft beer.
Fri-Sun Oct 18-20, 8-10.30pm; free entry. Jojo’s Riverside (Friday), Qing Man Party Restaurant (Saturday) and Pearl River Craft Beer Restaurant (Sunday). See event listing.
Fri, Oct 18: Esta @ Hangover

Esta joined the LA-based Soulection imprint and crew circa 2013 after being discovered by Andre Power and approached by Joe Kay. The DJ slash producer has since played at Coachella and been in studio with the likes of Ginuwine. Esta’s work and style has been described as “a boutique mix of classic hip hop cues, vinyl fuzz, treated vocals and a tasteful dose of trap, all blended into a warm, viscous ooze.” And best of all – he’s in Guangzhou for a big night at Hangover.
Fri Oct 18, 10pm; RMB100 presale, RMB150 door. Hangover. See event listing. Tickets.
Tue, Oct 22: Broncho China Tour @ T:union

Although Broncho come on Tuesday (a couple days after the weekend officially ends), this show is highly anticipated. The American indie rock band utilize nonsensical syllables and sounds to create memorable tunes such as ‘Class Historian.’ With an art school spirit and punk rock heart, the Oklahoma outfit will present Guangzhou music lovers nuanced, thoughtful rock music when they visit the city.
Tue Oct 22, 8.30pm; RMB150 presale, RMB180 door. T:union. See event listing. Tickets.
