Fri, Sept 27: Absented Memories @ Mao Livehouse

Wang Lei and Yile are an instrumental duo that construct powerful pieces, leading open-minded listeners on creative melodies that come off as pure and dynamic. Their latest album, Absented Memories, is their fourth full-length album and has been described as warm and light. Since 2017, their performances have included more than 20 musicans participating in live collaborative performances with this duo. Swing by Mao Livehouse for a unique experience this Friday.

Sat, Sept 28: Ying Yang Door Presents Shao China Tour @ Artcle

If you like techno, we’ve got a heavily recommended show worth attending this weekend. Electronic music artist, composer and sound designer Shao is slated to give Guangzhouers a techno treat at Artcle this Saturday. As the first Chinese artist to sign with legendary Berlin techno label Tresor Records, Shao has built a name for himself by interweaving techno jams with a diverse range of sounds. Also performing on the evening are Duan and Yang.

Sat, Sept 28: Acid Jazz, Soul Funk Night @ Brasston
Born in Spain, JR has been influenced by soul and jazz music since he was a kid. At 14, he started collecting music and developed a passion for acid jazz, funk and disco after a trip to the Big Apple in the late ’90s. Swing by Brasston this Saturday evening to hear his sets – deep baselines and groovy sounds from soul to acid jazz, ranging from garage to disco, funk to deep house. Keep the flow going this weekend at this dance-tastic show.
