Tue, Jun 25: Give Me Five

The team at LN Hotel Five have one of the city’s best booze deals: a bottle of beer for only RMB5 at the hotel’s rooftop bar, Bar 5. To sweeten the deal for those who don’t enjoy beer, Bar 5 also offers a free flow of house wine for only RMB55 per person. Live music will be played for all to enjoy, with a resident band performing a dynamic range of tunes.

Wed-Sun, Jun 26-30: Pingtan Impression

Directed by renowned dancer Yang Liping and performed by Yang herself and her dance company, Pingtan Impression is a composite of tradition and modernity, fusing local Fujian songs and dances with modern dance characteristics. Check out this phenomenal ocean-themed dance show at Guangzhou Opera House this week.

Thu, Jun 27: The KVB

British audio-visual duo Nicholas Wood and Kat Day are The KVB. The twosome is famous for the addition of visual elements to their music, which mainly blends shoegaze and electronic sounds. The KVB’s 2012 debut album, Always Then, boasts brittle beats and sonic blasts, although their sound later evolved into a more streamlined and sharp-edged style, as demonstrated on Only Now Forever, the duo’s 2018 album release. Experience their epic tunes at Mao Livehouse this week.

Thu-Sat, Jun 27-29: Fruit Expo 2019

The International Fruit Expo is held in Guangzhou, one of East Asia’s biggest fruit trade hubs. The event serves as a B2B platform enabling professionals to broaden their network and industry knowledge. The rising demand for varied fresh fruits in China has increased the market share of imported fruits and fruit processing equipment. Thirty-eight companies from around the world are expected to participate.

Fri, Jun 28: Casual Language Mix Meet-up

Language Mix is not just for practicing languages, but it’s also about meeting people from all over China and the rest of the world. Forget the textbooks and lectures, just talk. How it works is simple: Find the registration table when you enter, put on some flag stickers that represent your native language and the languages you want to learn, get a drink and join a group. Fri-Sun, Jun 28-30: Diving Resort Travel Expo

This three-day expo, dedicated wholly to the awesome water sport that is diving, is the largest of its kind held in South China to date. With a massive turnout at its first event last year, the diving-themed expo returns to Guangzhou this week and will feature lectures, a photography exhibition and equipment showcases.

Sat, Jun 29: HooDoo Summer Closing Party
HooDoo is going out with a bang this summer with a long night of electronic music vibes. Come to Floating Island Club this Saturday for a hell of a lineup, featuring Radio Revolution, Taku Hirayama, Biting Eye and more great acts. Enjoy discounted drinks along with friendly vibes and a great view of the city.

Ongoing: The Art of Mathematics
This summer, Langham Place, Guangzhou collaborates with Chinese artist Pamviles to hold an exhibition – The Art of Mathematics. Meanwhile, art-inspired dishes are served at Italian restaurant Alfresco. With a background in math, Pamviles uses his unique insight on the subject in his personal artistic creations. He uses codes he creates to hide all kinds of subjects within a hidden story.
