Mon, Apr 29: Descendents

Descendents, formed in 1977, are the earliest pioneers of US pop punk and have been at the forefront of the West Coast hardcore punk movement since its genesis in the late 1970s. Founding drummer Bill Stevenson is one of the most recognizable and respected drummers of the genre, having played for Black Flag during their most daring and genre-bending years.

Mon, Apr 29: Karen Souza

After getting involved in the production of the Jazz & 80s album series, Karen Souza garnered a legion of fans. The Argentinian woman began her career singing lounge-jazz versions of hit songs from the 1970s-90s. Today, the jazzwoman and bossa nova singer-songwriter has four albums to her name and always plays to a sold-out crowd.

Tue-Sun, all month: Eyes on Fire Exhibition

A graduate from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, painter Xu Weibo is displaying a selection of his artwork at Kui Yuan this month. The exhibition, titled Eyes on Fire, showcases Xu’s works on the subject of – you guessed it – ‘fire.’ Visitors can expect to see raging fire like never before, immortalized in a diversity of artistic techniques and through multiple angles and media.

From May 1: Zongzi Gift Box

In the spirit of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, Langham Place, Guangzhou has prepared two unique zongzi gift boxes, each containing two tasty dumplings. Packaged in a red gift box featuring a Manchurian-style window design, both of these zongzi boxes are ideal gifts for friends and family over the festival. The Langham Place’s zongzi gift boxes are available for order from May 1 and for pickup between May 20 and June 6 at Ming Court. Guests can also place an order via the hotel’s official WeChat (ID: LanghamGuangzhou).
