Thu, Apr 24: Happy Thursdays at The Happy Monk
We all know how beautiful Japan is when its cities are coated with pink cherry blossoms. Although Guangzhou, the city of flowers, won't see cherry blossoms blooming all over the city, it shouldn't deter you from joining The Happy Monk on Xingsheng Lu for a Japanese-themed party. Pop in for a couple of free cocktails and a bevy of surprises.

Thu-Sun, Apr 25-28: Bleu!

Drawing inspiration from the Odyssey, Bleu! is a production by TPO Company and Interactive Theatre, a children’s theater from Italy, which narrates the meeting of a sailor and a magical figure, Sea Nymph, in the Mediterranean. Little audiences will face stormy waters and howling wind and meet with sea creatures as the sailor carries on his adventure to find a pearl that the nymph dropped into the ocean.

Fri, Apr 26: American Town Hall 2019
The US Consulate General Guangzhou invites American citizens and their immediate family members to a Town Hall on Friday, April 26 from 1.30pm to 4pm at Lincoln Hall. There will be a Q&A with consulate staff, providing information on US consulate and community services of interest to Americans, while food and drink will be available for sale. RSVP by emailing the consulate at GuangzhouACS@state.gov or WeChat them at GuangzhouACS with your name, email and passport number by Wednesday, April 24. The consular entrance on Huaxia Lu is across the street from Exit B2, Zhujiang New Town Metro Station.

Sat, Apr 27: Mi Carmen Flamenca

Born in a village with traditional flamenco heritage near Seville, Spain, flamenco artist Antonio Andrade grew up among aficionados of this eye-catching art form. Serving as the artistic director of Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company, the Spanish artist has created many successful productions enjoyed by audiences around the globe, including this rendition of Carmen.

Sun, Apr 28: Castle in the Sky Concert

The classics of Japanese animation legend Hayao Miyazaki come to life this month at Xinghai Concert Hall in an audiovisual extravaganza. Performers from some of the country’s best conservatories will come together to deliver a sensational, family-friendly musical rendering of such pioneering anime legends as Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro and Valley in the Sky.

Mon, Apr 29: Descendents

Descendents, formed in 1977, are the earliest pioneers of US pop punk and have been at the forefront of the West Coast hardcore punk movement since its genesis in the late 1970s. Founding drummer, Bill Stevenson, is one of the most recognizable and respected drummers of the genre, having played for Black Flag during their most daring and genre-bending years.
