191 Space will play host to two Hong Kong-based bands this Friday night, and it’s free! After-After-Party is a comedy rock band who have a knack for making people bang their heads while laughing at the same time, while Say Mosquito’s style walks a tightrope between punk, jazz, psychobilly and pop. Swing by this popular live music venue and get a peep into Hong Kong’s music scene.

Tue-Sun, Apr 19-28: School of Rock the Musical

School of Rock, the latest work by Andrew Lloyd Webber, a living legend that brought you legendary masterpieces such as The Phantom of the Opera and Cats, will be shown in Guangzhou. Reimagined as a musical, School of Rock brings new joy and energy to the hit comedy film.

Sun, Apr 21: HolaLife Plogging at Baiyun Mountain

Children’s activities organizer HolaLife is encouraging families and kiddies to go out and do their part in cleaning up our environment by plogging, an activity combining jogging and picking up litter. The event is scheduled to start at 8am at the Aoshen Sports Center on Baiyun Mountain, where food stands, craft booths, environmental talks, an Easter egg hunt and other activities and games will be happening. The plogging starts at 9am and involves wandering and picking up litter on the mountain along a 5-kilometer trail.

Sun, Apr 21: Earth Day Recycle Carnival

In the hopes of building up citizens’ environmental awareness, Global Friendship will cooperate with local environmental protection organization, Eco Canton, and co-host a ‘Earth Day Recycle Carnival’ with the Canadian International School of Guangzhou. It is an opportune occasion to pick up hands-on knowledge of the recycling process. Attendees are encouraged to bring recyclable waste to the event, where a lucky draw, flea market, interactive performances and booths of various kinds also await.
