That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Fri, Apr 12: Robedoor @ Rozz-Tox

LA deep-dream doomsayers Robedoor embark on their inaugural China tour this month. The prodigious drone duo of Britt Brown (founder of seminal American DIY weirdo network Not Not Fun Records) and Alex Brown have let the smelted metal feedback loops pool and congeal on their latest full-length release, New Age Sewage, for nearly 24 months now; it’s overripe and ready to be served cold. With support provided by similarly vibey Lastboss on the evening, don't miss your opportunity to catch them at Rozz-Tox this Friday.
Fri Apr 12, 8.30pm; RMB130. Rozz-Tox. See event listing.
Fri, Apr 12: Shanghai Ultra @ Floating Island Sky Bar

The Hoodoo crew and Shanghai Ultra have a big weekend planned, incidentally coinciding with the arrival of a number of international artists set to play Sonar HK. Inviting an integral player, and, as some might say, founder of techno in China, Shanghai Ultra, to play Floating Island Sky Bar, this should be a solid party before heading to Shenzhen to play alongside Benjamin Damage on Saturday.
Fri Apr 12, 10pm; free entry. Floating Island Sky Bar. See event listing.
Sat, Apr 13: Smelly Hoover @ Zhenyintang
Zhenyintang will be open from noon onwards, with a mighty discount on vinyl records in celebration of Record Store Day. Pick up a specially-released record by Xiamen-band Cheesemind, and stick around until 8pm, at which point you can catch one-man band Smelly Hoover play delightful indie/alt folk tracks.
Sat Apr 13, 8pm; RMB50 presale, RMB70 at the door. Zhenyintang. See event listing. Tickets.
Sun Apr 14: Talos @ Mao Livehouse
Born in the South of Ireland, Talos, or Eoin French, had a roundabout path to success. Initially poised to be an architect, French hit headlines with the release of tracks such as ‘Tethered Bones’ and ‘In Time.’ His hauntingly beautiful music puts one in mind of another Irish artist, James Vincent McMorrow. As the young musician continues to amaze, enthrall and bedazzle, he makes his way to Mao Livehouse to unleash his soaring vocals on the lofty ceilings of that Haizhu venue.
Sun Apr 14, 8.30pm; RMB130 presale, RMB160 at the door. Mao Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
