Mon, Mar 18: Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert

Ever since Star Wars was released on the silver screen over 40 years ago, the franchise has remained one of the top sci-fi flicks of all time, with its charm remaining mostly untarnished (looking at you, The Last Jedi). And now, the time has come for you to relive the epic battles between the Rebel forces and the Empire. Performed by Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, this show is a must-see for fans of the epic space opera.

Tue, Mar 19: Idea Exchange

At this week’s Idea Exchange, a social entrepreneur from Florida will be offering attendees a practical guide on how to stay motivated, be consistent and stay true to your gut instinct. He is the founder of networking and wellness organization Zocentive and the developer of lifestyle app Gbozo.

Thu, Mar 21: The Art of Coffee: Pay With A Poem
This year marks the sixth year of the Pay With A Poem initiative by Julius Meinl on World Poetry Day (March 21). On the day, guests who write a poem will be able to get a free Julius Meinl coffee at Portal.

Ongoing: Behavior of Colours
Donald Schenkel’s Rothko-esque color fields fascinate and enthrall viewers. Influenced by his previous trip to the Middle Kingdom, Schenkel has come out with this new collection, made especially for this exhibition in Guangzhou, showing the beginnings of a new chapter in his artistic life. Thu-Sun, Mar 21-24: Rumba Sur La Lune

French theater troupe Compagnie Marizibill will present Rumba on the Moon, the story of an adventurous, big-dreaming mouse who’s on the hunt for cheese. Performed without words, the show, or as the creator calls it, visual poem, appeals to children and adults alike.

Fri, Mar 22: Next Door Band

Hailed as the Chinese mainland’s answer to popular Taiwan band Mayday, Next Door Band are known for their upbeat rhythms and positive, catchy lyrics. These two elements have helped the young band garner a substantial fan base, with their pop-rock sound appealing to China’s younger generation.

Fri-Sun, Mar 22-31: No Exit (Chinese)

“Hell is other people.” The source of Sartre’s famous quotation, Hui Clos, or No Exit, is an existentialist play. In the philosophy of existentialism, Sartre was one of the key figures and his philosophical ideas make his plays profound and memorable. In No Exit, three damned souls get acquainted with and converse with one another, all the while hiding their misdeeds.

Sun, Mar 24: Woofin’ Epic Sunday for Animal Action Guangzhou

Enjoy a boozy Sunday and delicious edibles at this fun charity event in support of Animal Action Guangzhou. The day starts with a brunch buffet at Fuel on Party Pier from noon to 3pm, featuring free flow beer and wine as well as delicious eats prepared by Fuel’s elite culinary team.
There will also be a raffle (with all proceeds going to AAGZ) and live entertainment. The second half of the event takes place at one of our favorite local watering holes: Morgan’s Public House. From 4-7pm, attendees can enjoy a delicious ‘Sunday Roast’ (leg of lamb or prime rib) and a free flow of Tiger beer, house wine and select spirits. Additionally, there will be a live DJ, raffle draw and pool competition.
