With their deep house night, Deeplomatist, bringing a much-needed dose of flavor to the Guangzhou music scene, Brasston is helping to push the mellow vibes of deep house music. This week they welcome Simon Bishop, who previously took part in Guangzhou’s Boiler Room and who runs independent music platform Guangzhou Underground, as well as Japanese DJ Omori and one half of the Deeplomatist duo SPZ.
Fri Mar 1, 10pm; free entry. Brasston. See event listing.
Sat, Mar 2: Jan & Naomi @ T:union
Dream pop out of Tokyo, Jan & Naomi released their first full-length nine-track album, Fracture, in April of 2018. They’ve since gone on to capture a bunch of fans enamored by their gentle vocals, precarious rhythms and beautiful lyrics.
Sat Mar 2, 8.30pm; RMB80 presale, RMB120 at the door. T:union. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Mar 2: Super VC @ SD Livehouse
Comparable to The Strypes, or perhaps The Monkees, The Super VC have been making music since they were a group of young lads, with a flurry of pretty catchy tunes. In the fashion of boy bands, they have a very distinct style, wearing military garb a la Coldplay during the Viva la Vida phase (what does that say about Coldplay?).
Sat Mar 2, 8.30pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sun, Mar 3: Ni-Hao! and Octopoulpe @ SD Livehouse

Japanese all-girl punk band Ni-Hao! have been releasing music since 2000. While the band has undergone some fundamental line-up changes in the interim, their cheerful punk vibe is just as catchy as ever. They'll be joined on the evening by masked musical force Octopoulpe as well as local favorites Die!ChiwawaDie!
Sun Mar 3, 8pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
