Tue, Dec 18: Sweet John

Hailing from Taiwan, up-and-coming Sweet John delight their audience with wonderful and infectious jangle guitar lines. Their sweet-like-honey music, demonstrated in the band’s debut album Dear, has already won them a loyal following in Taiwan. Catch Sweet John this week at SD Livehouse.

Wed, Dec 19: Yi-Gather Meetup
The Yi-Gather Meetup is a monthly event where people give short talks about personal narratives around topics such as occupation, creative work, academic work, hobbies and general interests. It offers an opportunity to learn something new, network and make friends within the inspiring Yi-Gather Space at Ximenkou. The talks are presented in English and open to everyone. This Wednesday’s event will feature three Guangzhou-based journalists: Vivian Ma and Hazza from GRT Radio, as well as That's PRD's own Matthew Bossons. You can interact with the speakers during a panel Q&A after each talk.

Fri, Dec 21: Werner Bartschi

Werner Bartschi’s interpretation of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt is spontaneous, communicative and exciting. Born in Zurich in 1950, his repertoire includes works all the way from the late Renaissance to modern times. At Guo Lanying Theater, Bartschi will play a selection of classical work as well as his own compositions.

Sun, Dec 23: Russian State Ballet – Swan Lake

Tue-Sun, Dec 20-Mar 20: Echoes of the Nile: Exhibition of Ancient Egyptian Civilization

Bask in ancient Egyptian civilization at this exhibition in the Guangdong Museum. A total of 235 relics from the Egyptian Museum in Turin will be on display, offering visitors an insight into the everyday life, religious beliefs and memorial services of ancient Egyptian society. Works on display include precious mummies and sarcophagi, the mysterious Book of the Dead and stone tablets, among many other valuable antiques.
