Police checks are currently underway on Xingsheng Lu, according to numerous people on the popular bar street. If you plan to visit the Liede area this evening, we strongly suggest you remember to bring your passport and police registration documents with you in case you are asked to present them.

“When I got home at 7pm sharp, there were a lot of police, I’d say 30 or 40 of them outside Sultan,” one local resident told That’s. “One younger officer told me there was nothing to worry about and that they are just ‘tidying up.’”

“They have left Revolucion, they [the police] are just everywhere on the streets,” another Xingsheng Lu resident told us, adding that most establishments are empty this evening.
While it is not immediately clear what the current Xingsheng Lu police operation is targeting, it’s worth noting Food and Drug Administration vehicles have been spotted parked near Xingsheng Lu.

Tonight’s police action comes almost a week to the day after a massive police raid involving around 10 police vehicles took upwards of 70 people from Hooley’s weekly ‘Samba Night’ event to local police stations for drug tests.
While it is unknown exactly how many people tested positive for illicit substances, That’s is aware of at least nine people who failed urine and hair tests.
