That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Fri, Dec 7: Chui Wan @ SD Livehouse
It has been a busy year for Chui Wan. Welcoming two new members into the band earlier this year, as well as frontman Yan Yulong starting his own label Maybe Noise Records, the group get back together this winter for a national tour. The infusion of new talent will hopefully result in some great music by the group that brought us The Landscape the Tropics Never Had.
Fri Dec 7, 8.30pm; RMB100 presale, RMB120 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Fri, Dec 7: GriffO @ T:union
GriffO is a band that generally defy categorization. Based in Hangzhou, their music has raised many an eyebrow in the years since they first arrived on the scene. They combine electronic and atmospheric shades with a very significant math rock backbone to create something that feels almost extraterrestrial.

Fri, Dec 7: Sounds of Detroit @ Brasston
Senonix. Image via event organizers.
Techno has its roots in Detroit, a city whose musical history is also bound up with soul and blues. Techno was born out of jazz and disco fused with synthesizers and drum machines. The Hoodoo residents will showcase a history of Detroit techno playing mostly vinyl records and featuring some rare classics. A live set from local Guangzhou producer, Senonix, will make it all the more authentic.
