That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Sat, Nov 24: Jay Jay Johanson @ Mao Livehouse
Characterized by jazzy vocals over trippy, film noir arrangements, Jay-Jay Johanson’s debut album, Whiskey, became an instant hit when released in 1996. But the Swedish singer-songwriter’s 2007 album, The Long Term Physical Effects Are Not Yet Known, is recognized by many fans as his finest offering, being more seductive and startlingly eclectic than any of his prior work.

Sat-Sun, Nov 24-25: Cliff Haus Music Festival @ Cliff Haus
This Thanksgiving, join Bad Astronauts at the unique Cliff Haus, which is located in the countryside of Qingyuan amid a spectacular stretch of mountains. A Guangzhou-based trio whose music boasts a funky style with a touch of hard rock and psychedelic tunes, Bad Astronauts will perform a drum circle as the sun goes down and then crank out some electronic beats and funky music. A delicious stuffed chicken feast and homemade goodies will also be ripe for the pickings. When the music stops, set up your tent under the stars and slip into a sweet dream. For more information, contact Cliff Haus on WeChat (ID: Cliff_Haus).
