Tue, Nov 13: Trivia at Ginstar
Every Tuesday evening, Ginstar's Zhujiang New Town location holds its weekly pub quiz from 8.30-10pm. The trivia covers a wide range of topics and subjects, from current events and pop culture to geography, literature and politics. (Photo, music and connection rounds also feature!).
Participating teams stand the chance to win a number of boozy prizes, including a bottle of Fireball, 3 liters of Carlsberg and a bottle of wine! And, as an added bonus, trivia attendees can also enjoy one of Ginstar’s renowned burgers and a pint of beer for only RMB60!

Thu, Nov 15: Beaujolais Nouveau 2018

It’s Beaujolais Nouveau season once more, and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Canton, in partnership with the Consulate General of France in Canton, is going to celebrate the arrival of this year’s grape harvest with a fun, wine-centric event. Thu, Nov 15: Yi-Gather Meetup
The Yi-Gather Meetup is a monthly event where people from all walks of life give short talks about the personal narratives behind the things that they do: occupations, projects, creative work, academic projects, hobbies and interests. It offers an opportunity to learn something new, make friends and network, within the inspiring location of the Yi-Gather space in Ximenkou. Talks are presented in English and open to everyone.

Fri-Mon, Nov 16-19: Art Canton

In its eighth edition this year, Art Canton, a large-scale art fair widely recognized by collectors and academia, will be held at Guangzhou Liuhua Exhibition & Trade Center. This year, more than 60 art institutions, galleries and nearly 100 artists from China and other countries will participate in the Art Canton - Contemporary Art Fair, where visitors can expect a visual feast, which comprises a great number of artworks representing the crème de la crème of the contemporary art sphere.

Tue-Sun, Nov 16-25: Mamma Mia!

Over 60 million people worldwide have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music that make Mamma Mia! the ultimate feel-good show. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter’s quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past to a Greek island paradise, where stories unfold. The Chinese version maintains the original flavor of playwright Catherine Johnson’s work, reinterpreting more than 20 ABBA songs in Chinese.

It’s that time of the year again, folks, for one of Guangzhou’s most celebrated and highly-anticipated annual events: AmCham Winter Ball. This year’s ball shares a theme with one of our favorite ’80s films, Back to the Future (shout out to Doc and Marty!), promising to whisk guests through time! Dubbed ‘AmCham Winter Ball 2018: A Journey Through Time’ by the organizer, AmCham is planning to transport attendees through the ages using the magic of music and dance, from romantic 17th century Italian balletto and the innovative waltz of 18th-century Europe to the modern dance genres we enjoy today (get ready to pop ‘n’ lock, people!).

The iconic Kenny G is coming to Guangzhou this week. The Grammy Award-winning smooth jazz saxophonist from Seattle is the highest-selling instrumental musician of our time, with global sales of his albums reaching more than 75 million in total. Back in 1986, Mr. G achieved tremendous success with his fourth album, Duotones. In China, Kenny G’s romantic style is loved by audiences, especially for his rendition of household Chinese songs ‘Jasmine Flower,' ‘The Moon Represents My Heart’ as well as signature piece ‘Going Home.’

Sun, Nov 18: The Beats of Taiwan

The Ju Percussion Group from Taiwan is a professional band comprised of 17 percussionists, best known for their innovative performances that fuse East and West, traditional and contemporary styles. Having created over 200 pieces, the Ju Percussion Group, founded by famous Taiwanese percussionist Ju Tzong-Ching, has toured the globe and brought their powerful performances to nearly 30 countries.
