That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Fri, Nov 9: Stolen @ SD Livehouse
Having teamed up with famed producer and musical journeyman Mark Reeder last year to make their fantastic self-titled EP, Chengdu six-piece Stolen came back with a bang this year, following up that slick record with another equally awesome piece of work, Fragment. Their latest album is a mesmerizing electronic piece that combines funk and sci-fi, showing a band at the top of their game.
Fri Nov 9, 8.30pm; RMB100 presale, RMB150 at the door. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Nov 10: Chill Boy @ SD Livehouse
Making his way around China's major music centers this fall, Chill Boy is looking to impress with his well-produced jazzy tunes. With a bunch of releases to his name in 2018 alone, Chill Boy is nothing if not consistent. His most recent single, 'Ice,' comes across as more of a club banger, with no lyrics involved. That's Chill Boy's major attraction, more so than his rapping skills, and makes him comparable to modern beat-oriented artists like Strawberry Papa.
Sat Nov 10, 8.30pm; RMB90-160. SD Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Nov 10: Melody Fall @ 191 Space
Italian pop-punk act Melody Fall hit Guangzhou on the back of their March release, The Middle Age of the Dinosaurs. Known for channeling the insane energy of noughties' era punksters like Sum 41, Green Day and Good Charlotte, this one should be a cracking performance from a high-octane band.
Sat Nov 10, 4pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door. 191 Space. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Nov 10: OMENXIII @ Hangover

Emo-rap is here to stay (don't tell Joe Budden). With the rise of popular US musicians like Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty over the past few years, this offshoot of Soundcloud rap is on-the-up. Head down to Hangover this weekend to catch OMENXIII, an American rapper of the emo persuasion who, in an apparent act of emo-rap rebellion, has not one face tattoo to his name.
Sat Nov 10, 10pm; RMB120 presale, RMB180 at the door. Hangover. See event listing. Tickets.
