Tue, Nov 6: Trivia at Ginstar
Every Tuesday evening, Ginstar's Zhujiang New Town location holds its weekly pub quiz from 8.30-10pm. The trivia covers a wide range of topics and subjects, from current events and pop culture to geography, literature and politics. (Photo, music and connection rounds also feature!).
Participating teams stand the chance to win a number of boozy prizes, including a bottle of Fireball, 3 liters of Carlsberg and a bottle of wine! And, as an added bonus, trivia attendees can also enjoy one of Ginstar’s renowned burgers and a pint of beer for only RMB60!

Huang Yu, Su Qianjun and Sun Xiaoxiao all majored in mineral color painting at the Chinese Painting College of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art and will have their beautiful artwork displayed at this exhibition. Because the materials and techniques used in mineral color painting are quite unique, the artists became enamored by the craft during their studies. In their works, viewers will see the three artists’ passion for nature, commitment to art and their love of life.

Wed, Nov 7: Hexis

Experience the violently distorted, explosive black metal and crust punk music of Danish band Hexis this Wednesday. Touring the world with their latest offering, XII, Hexis is an act that Guangzhou rockers will not want to miss!

Thu, Nov 8: The World Alive

If Hexis’ music sounds like too much for your delicate ears to handle, check out the less aggressive Arizonan metalcore band The World Alive, who bring Violent Noise, their fifth album, to Guangzhou this week. Joining them on the night is Guangzhou’s own Lktomo, a hard rockin’ band that has been active in the city’s music scene for six years.

Fri-Sat, Nov 9-10: Sense and Sensibility

Founded in 1999, Chapterhouse Theatre Company performs under the stars at some of the most beautiful gardens the United Kingdom has to offer. The renowned theater troupe will bring one of Jane Austen’s all-time classics, Sense and Sensibility, to the stage at Xinghai Concert Hall this week, offering Guangzhouers a story of love, romance and heartbreak.

Sat, Nov 10: GIVES Carnival
The Guangzhou-based Guangdong International Volunteer Expatriate Service (GIVES) is one of the most renowned volunteer groups in the city and has been a prominent charitable force in areas such as education, healthcare and orphan care for more than two decades. At the GIVES Carnival taking place on November 10, an array of family-friendly activities, performances and games are set to entertain visitors, while a range of food stations specializing in tasty edibles will be onsite to keep everyone full and happy. All profits from this event go to Lianzhou Prosthesis Rehabilitation Project.

Until Nov 11: When All Was Green

A puppetry show by Israel’s Key Theatre, When All Was Green is the story of a boy and a tree, and about fields lost between gray concrete and one green bud of hope. Key Theatre is composed of a puppet-loving husband-wife duo, both experts at scriptwriting and performing. The pair has toured the world with their memorable and artistic puppet shows, inspiring curiosity in countless children around the globe.

Until Nov 30: World War I – Far Away From Home

This 20th century wartime exhibition will display old photographs of soldiers from different countries and ethnic backgrounds who fought in the Great War. The pictures capture the turbulent times during WWI, a conflict that saw hundreds of thousands of soldiers fight and perish on the Western Front, in the Belgian province of West Flanders.

All month: Give Me Five

The adventurous sibling of ‘plogging,’ pliking involves both hiking and the picking up of rubbish and is the perfect activity for those looking to stay in shape and help Momma Nature out at the same time!
