That's Guangzhou takes a look at the best gigs of the week.
Fri, Oct 26: The Molds @ 191 Space
Taking inspiration from low-fidelity recordings and twanging guitars a la The Jesus and Mary Chain, underground legends The Molds brittle-strong sound resides somewhere between the moon and the surf. Currently releasing tunes on awesome experimental Beijing label, Space Fruity Records, you can catch them jamming alongside local band Hoo! this Friday.
Fri Oct 26, 8pm; RMB80 presale, RMB100 at the door. 191 Space. See event listing. Tickets.
Fri, Oct 26: Yin Yang Guild Halloween @ Mao Livehouse

Electronic promotors Yin Yang Guild take their show on the road this Halloween, playing in Mao Livehouse rather than the usual surreal confines of their lair on Jiangtai Lu. Acts have yet to be announced but expect at least a little bit of drum and bass and sparse techno this Halloween.
Fri Oct 26, 10pm; RMB60 presale, RMB80 at the door. Mao Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Oct 27: Colorless Unplugged @ Mao Livehouse

This musical series is rooted in Shanghai but regularly tours around the country. This time around they are bringing their unplugged series to Beijing and Guangzhou. Organized by Connect Series, and known for its emphasis on singers, this unplugged event sounds mysterious and exciting.
Sat Oct 27, 6pm; RMB280 presale, RMB480 presale VIP. Mao Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Oct 27: Jay Prince @ Hangover
London rapper Jay Prince will make a surprise appearance at Hangover this weekend. With relatable lyrics a la The Streets’ Mike Skinner, but with a totally different musical backdrop, Prince is a welcome respite from the constant stream of trap music performances that have beset the city's music scene of late.
Sat Oct 27, 10pm; RMB120 presale, RMB180 at the door. Hangover. See event listing. Tickets.
Sat, Oct 27: Krome @ 1200Bookshop Livehouse
The coolest book shop in town, now with their own livehouse, draft electronic promotors Underground Union to take over the stage for a bouncy, sweaty and hectic Halloween party. If pictures of the bookstore are anything to go by, the place will be decorated ornately as techno, drum and bass and house music swirl around the rafters.
Sat Oct 27, 10.30pm; RMB40 presale. 1200Bookshop Livehouse. See event listing. Tickets.
