On the morning of August 29, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism held a press conference at the Hilton Guangzhou Tianhe. The event was aimed at introducing distinguished attendees and the local media to the bountiful tourism resources on offer in the Southeast Asian nation.

The press conference was followed by informative presentations from the Indonesian Bureau of Tourism, Garuda Indonesia and China Southern Airlines. Additionally, traditional Indonesian dance performances were staged for guests, which – as we’re sure you can probably imagine – was a thrilling cultural experience.

Indonesia, which has been in the media spotlight of late for hosting the 18th Asian Games, has recently launched a promotional tour across China. During the Guangzhou stop, a number of tourist hotspots were profiled, including Jakarta, Bali and Central Java, among other regions.

There is an increasing number of Chinese tourists visiting Indonesia. According to event organizers, one of the main goals of the tourism roadshow is to promote Indonesia’s ViWi (Visit Wonderful Indonesia) travel package, a series of cost-effective routes from the world to Jakarta, Bali and other destinations. The promotion will conclude by the end of the year.
