Hailing from California, The Garden bring their distinct style of glam punk to Guangzhou this weekend, the second stop on a four-date tour around the country. With the release of their third album, Mirror Might Steal Your Children, on Epitaph Records in March of this year, The Garden channeled the slacker punk of New York band Parquet Courts, with a healthy dose of synthesizers thrown into the mix. The end result: Mirror Might Steal Your Children sounds altogether fluid and instinctive.

Sun Sept 9, 8.30pm; RMB120 presale, RMB150 at the door. T:union. See event listing. Tickets

Sun, Sept 9: Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra

To the delight of classical music lovers, Russia’s historic Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra is performing in town this weekend. As the oldest orchestra in Russia, they have stood the test of time, performing under different names during different periods of Russian history. At Xinghai Concert Hall, the renowned orchestra will play under the baton of Russian maestro Yuri Temirkanov, performing romantic works by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Sun Sept 9, 8pm; RMB780-1,880. Xinghai Concert Hall. See event listing. Tickets

The sustainability-focused event is the third of its kind in Guangzhou, and is jointly organized by Global Friendship, Eco Canton and Canton Residence. Volunteers will be available to help you organize your recyclable items from 10am-1pm at the south gate of The Canton Place

Sun Sept 9, 10am-1pm. The Canton Place. See event listing
