Just in case you somehow haven't noticed yet, it’s raining buckets in Guangzhou. According to reports, a tropical low-pressure system has been responsible for blanketing Nansha, Panyu, Liwan, Yuexiu and Baiyun districts in heavy rain since 8am today.

According to data from the Meteorological and Hydrological Monitoring Network, the hourly rainfall reached 81.9 millimeters at 9.45am today at Xiwan Lu, Liwan District.

As a result of the downpour, ‘red rain warnings’ have been triggered in Yuexiu, Liwan and Baiyun. Tianhe and Huadu districts have issued yellow alerts, while Haizhu and Panyu are currently at an ‘orange rain warning.’

Citizens are being advised to pay close attention to the weather conditions before venturing far from home.
