Dig out your raincoat and gumboots, Guangzhouers: rain is currently forecast for the next 15 days. According to the Weather Channel, from today, May 28, until June 11, Guangzhou will experience daily thunderstorms and temperatures in the high 20s and low to mid 30s (Celsius).
Shenzhen will also experience an onslaught of precipitation over the next two weeks, with 12 of the next 15 days currently forecast to rain. Current predications indicate the city will enjoy sun tomorrow and ‘partly cloudy’ weather on Wednesday and Thursday.
Both Guangzhou and Shenzhen are expecting thunder and rain today.
Over in Zhuhai, 13 of the next 15 days are expected to feature rain, according to the Weather Channel, while Dongguan is anticipating only one day without rain between now and June 11. Foshan, like Guangzhou, is also forecast to experience 15 consecutive days of rain.
For those looking for a reprieve from the heat, you might be out of luck: temperatures appear set to remain at least 25 degrees Celsius across the Pearl River Delta for the foreseeable future.

The current heatwave has broken records for the month of May in Hong Kong, according to South China Morning Post, where temperatures have reached at least 33 degrees every day for 10 days straight. The previous heatwave record for May in Hong Kong dates back to 1963, when the city was in the midst of a drought and experienced an eight-day streak of scorching heat.
Statistically speaking, May is the second rainiest month of the year in Guangzhou, with an average of 300 millimeters of rain and 19 rainy days. June is the wettest month of the year in Canton, with 320 millimeters of rainfall and 21 rainy days.
