June 8-10: Catch Me If You Can
America loves a con artist (obviously) and maybe no one did it better than Frank Abagnale, Jr., portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the film of the same name. Frank’s adventure saw him scamming his way to the high life, passing off USD2 million in bad checks while impersonating a pilot, a doctor and a lawyer… and all before he turned 21. This rollicking, Tony-nominated musical is filled with enough stranger-than-fiction plot twists and energetic dance numbers to steal your heart away.

June 16: Opera in Cinema – Adès's The Exterminating Angel
Thomas Adès’s bold 2016 opera, revisiting Luis Buñuel's surreal cinematic allegory of the same name, is broadcast on the big screen from New York’s Metropolitan Opera. Following the success of Adès’s The Tempest, the inventive composer reimagines Buñuel's terrible dinner party that guests cannot escape, until madness – and a bear – arrive for the climax. The one-night affair should be a startling wonder to behold.

June 22-24: Dragon Boat Carnival
Enjoy the long weekend watching thousands of the world’s top dragon boat athletes battle it out in beautiful Victoria Harbour. The old folk tradition has exploded into one of the busiest times on the waterfront, with families and friends enjoying water games and plenty of beer as a fleet of food trucks provide an astounding array of local and international bites.

June 26-Jul 2: H2 Live Music Festival
It’s time for another week of great free gigs and excellent music from bands across Hong Kong’s broad indie spectrum. June 28-30: Giselle by English National Ballet
Breaking with nearly a century of faithful reiteration, choreographer Akram Khan and composer Vincenzo Lamagna transform Adolphe Adam’s eerie and romantic ballet into a supremely ominous new masterpiece. Set design by Academy Award-winner Tim Yip and all-new costumers add stunning detail to this gothic tragedy of love and betrayal, ghosts and ghastly consequence.
