Thu, Apr 5: Alpine Decline @ 191 Space
Alpine Decline, a much-beloved Beijing band now based in LA, will arrive in Guangzhou tomorrow for what promises to be a highlight of the week for the city’s music fans. Having just released Return to Desolation Lake, a record that sees the band incorporate more folk and Americana influences into their sound, Alpine Decline are embarking a nationwide tour that will take them all across China.

Fri, Apr 6: Los Crasher @ SD Livehouse
Los Crasher made waves last year after the release of their first full-length album, Game Face. The feature-length record was a welcome development after three previous releases of seven songs or less and was met with considerable acclaim on the mainland. With their mix of glam, punk and hard rock, Los Crasher are a throwback to the days of Led Zeppelin, Poison and bands of their ilk.

Sat, Apr 7: Sainkho Namtchylak @ Tune Live Music
Tune Live Music is again bringing an interesting, regional folk singer to town – this time in the form of Tuvan throat singer Sainkho Namtchylak. Hailing from Tuva, an autonomous republic in the Russian Federation, just across the border from Mongolia, she is known for her ability to create a wide variety of sounds, capturing the imagination of audiences with her aural depictions of natural and spiritual life.

Sat, Apr 7: MaRthE @ Zhile Art Space
A fusion of Greek and French jazz with saxophonist Alexis Moutzouris and trumpeter Florent Briqué at the forefront of this free-flowing, improvisational band. After making an appearance up in Beijing at the end of March, MaRthE make their way to Zhile Art Space for an intimate performance this weekend. Catch this performance for extemporaneous Grecian flourishes in the rare and lovely setting of a ‘living room’ gig.
