Pony Ma, Jack Ma to Visit Shenzhen Tech Conference

In late March, Shenzhen will play host to Pony Ma and Jack Ma – two of China’s richest men – for the 2018 China (Shenzhen) IT Leaders Summit, NewsGD reports. They’ll join over 100 academics, investors and entrepreneurs for the eighth edition of this two-day conference.

The keynote address by Tencent CEO Pony Ma is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the press-shy tech leader, recently named richest man in Asia with a fortune valued at USD47 billion

He’ll also join Alibaba founder Jack Ma for a 'BAT vs. TMD' dialogue, contrasting the strategies of established tech brands with those of newcomers Toutiao, Meituan and Didi. Both Shenzhen-based Tencent and Hangzhou-based Alibaba have seen their stock price double over 2017, propelling the CEOs up the list of the world’s richest men. But that could prove precarious thanks to their Beijing-based rivals.

After Pony Ma took a swipe at Alibaba’s business model last December, we hope the two titans can use the meet-up to return to happier times when the two felt like “younger brothers” in the shadow of China’s first generation of giants, Sina, Sohu and Netease
