Where to Dine for CNY 2018 in Guangzhou

If you're holing up in your apartment all week long, or visiting Guangzhou during the holiday, here are our picks for the best Chinese New Year feasts to celebrate the start of the Year of the Dog.

Grand Hyatt Guangzhou

Selecting premium ingredients, the culinary team at Grand Hyatt Guangzhou have crafted a sumptuous poon choi, a traditional Cantonese cuisine prepared with an array of delicious edibles and served in a basin. Ingredients making up the Grand Hyatt poon choi are sea cucumbers from Norway, wild abalones, oysters, roast goose, hand-made fish balls and prawns, among various other delicacies. Guangzhou Marriott Hotel Tianhe

Two poon choi are on offer at Guangzhou Marriott Hotel Tianhe, one for RMB588 and the other for RMB888 (plus 15 percent service charge). Both are prepared with 12 different ingredients. Also, a set menu for 10, comprised of traditional dishes, has been crafted by the hotel's executive chef and is available from February 14 until March 2.

Lai Heen

On CNY’s Eve and CNY’s Day, the Cantonese cuisine connoisseurs at Lai Heen are presenting well-crafted courses including roast suckling pig, king crab salad, steamed giant grouper and other scrumptious dishes.

Ming Court

Ming Court at Langham Place, Guangzhou is offering four ‘reunion’ set menus throughout February. Highlight dishes include a suckling pig platter, braised bird’s nest with fish maw and conpoy, braised sea cucumber and mushrooms with abalone sauce and steamed fresh grouper in premium soy sauce.

Tea 5

During this Spring Festival, Tea 5 at LN Hotel Five, Guangzhou offers two set menus, respectively for 4-6 and 8-10 diners. Featuring traditional and palatable dishes such as roasted suckling pig, Qingyuan chicken and 'lion’s head' meatballs, the two set meals are a nod to local dining traditions from the hotel’s exquisite Cantonese restaurant.
