Guangzhou is famous for its traditional flower markets that pop up every year around Spring Festival. It’s one of the main reasons the city has earned the epithet 'the City of Flowers.' To help you get the most out of CNY flower displays, we've assembled a list of flower markets where a blossoming spring awaits!
1. Liwan Lake Park Flower Market
The scenic shores of Liwan Lake Park will host a CNY flower market this year, while traditional food and craft markets will also be held around the lake. Traditional Cantonese dance troupes will put on a range of shows to entertain visitors.

2. Yuntai Garden Flower Market
Yuntai Garden, at the foot of Baiyun Mountain, holds a spectacular flower market every year. The market will center around tulips, showcasing a variety of geranium and antirrhinum, among numerous others. Peach and rape flowers will also greet visitors to the market, which will be held both outdoors and in greenhouses.

3. Yuexiu Park Lantern Show
One of the more notable festivities in Guangzhou, the lantern fair and flower market in Yuexiu Park is a must-attend event on Chinese New Year’s Eve. Over 50 sets of lanterns will light up the night, ushering you in to a prosperous Year of the Dog.

4. Yuexiu District Flower Market
Having flourished in Guangzhou for more than a century, the Yuexiu District Flower Market is believed to be the longest running fair of its kind in the city. This year’s event will host a "giant flowerbed," which is being touted as the highlight of the market.

5. Haizhu District Flower Market
Located on Bingjiang Xi Lu, the Haizhu District Flower Market will offer curious shoppers and browsers a selection of handicrafts, bonsais and colorful flowers. Stretching over 1 kilometer, this floral bazaar runs along the south bank of the Pearl River.
Feb 13-14, 8.30am-midnight; Feb 15, 8.30-2am. Bingjiang Xi Lu (from Renming Bridge to Jiefang Bridge) 滨江西路 (人民桥到解放桥路段).
6. Liwan District Flower Market
Billed as the largest flower market in town, Liwan’s esteemed flower market boasts over 300 stalls. Expect flowers (like, lots and lots of flowers) and festive handicrafts.

7. Panyu Square Flower Market
From February 10-15, over 200 stalls selling CNY gifts and flowers will spread out across Panyu Square. Holiday shoppers can expect Chinese artwork, chunlian (Spring Festival couplets), dried fruits and CNY decorations.
