Parents are once again being reminded to keep a sharp eye on their little ones after a 3-year-old boy in Guangzhou got his hand stuck in a mall escalator.
The terrifying incident occurred on January 15 in Haizhu District’s Vanke Plaza and firefighters from Shaxi Fire Squadron, as well as soldiers, were dispatched to aid in youngster's rescue, according to Cantonese Vision.

After eight minutes of tinkering with hydraulic ‘breaker’ tools, the child’s hand was released from the escalator and he was handed over to medical personnel for treatment. Luckily for the little guy, his hand suffered only minor bruising during the presumably traumatizing ordeal.
With Chinese New Year – and the school holidays that come with it – quickly approaching, fire departments in Guangzhou are reminding parents to keep their kids away from dangerous equipment and to not let their children play with fire.
