In the wake of World Week of Italian Cuisine, this photo exhibition will display images of ‘father of Italian cuisine’ Pellegrino Marcello Artus’s culinary masterpieces. Jan 17: The Last of the Mohicans

Is imitation the highest form of flattery... or appropriation of the sacred? Alexandro Querevalu, who was born in Lima, Peru, and immigrated to Poland at 18, is firmly in the former camp. Dressing in the costume of Native American tribes, he performs earnest and soulful renditions of North America’s indigenous music. You’ll either resonate with the versatility, eloquence, and emotion he expresses, or want to shout at him to take off the damn headdress.

Jan 17, 8pm; RMB100-330. Zhengjia Theatre. See event listing. Tickets

Jan 18: Dirty Fingers China Tour

One of 2017’s hottest China-based bands, Dirty Fingers, have quite the backstory. Having transformed themselves from a crazy, alcohol-fueled party band to a group of professional and committed musicians, the foursome have had a spectacular journey during their two-year tenure. Dirty Fingers' eclectic sound is unique within the Shanghai independent scene. Made up of three Middle Kingdom natives and a Brazilian expat, Dirty Fingers don't seem to adhere to any of the traditional notions of what an indie band in China should be.

The band are currently touring China with their new album, How’d I Turn So Bad. Click here to read our exclusive interview with the band’s drummer, Ale ‘Alex’ Amazonia.

Jan 18, 8.30-10pm; RMB60 presale, RMB80 door. 191 Space. See event listing. Tickets

Jan 20: Foster the People

American indie-pop quartet Foster the People came into being in the City of Angels in 2009. Since that time, they have risen to become one of the most popular bands in the world today. Foster the People grabbed global attention in 2010 with their smash hit ‘Pumped Up Kicks.’ The group’s musical style can be described as a unique blend of ‘80s synth-pop and ‘60s psychedelic pop and their lyrics often reflect societal problems.

Jan 20, 8pm; RMB380 presale, RMB580 door. Central Station. See event listing. Tickets
