On November 24, Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich honored five ‘everyday heroes’ living in Canton; men and women involved in charity and social work, teaching, policing and fire response in our fair city.
The heroes were invited to the ‘Welcome Heroes Award Ceremony’ at the hotel, part of Accorhotels’ global initiative to recognize those individuals who work daily to serve their community. Over 2,000 establishments around the world participated in the program, including 500 hotels in the Asia Pacific region and over 100 hotels in Greater China.
As part of Accorhotel’s 50th anniversary, from November 19-23, hotels and resorts in Greater China hosted a series of events for more than 3,000 unsung heroes from all walks of life. During the weeklong promotion, more than 60 heroic stories were shared by 60 distinguished community members, who were invited (along with their families) to spend the night in participating hotels.
The Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich hosted the following individuals and groups: Mr. Li Xing Long, firefighter with the Guangzhou Municipal Detachment of Public Security and Fire Control Tianhe Branch; Mr. Xu Yan Xing, captain of the Guangzhou Police Bureau Tianhe Branch Tianhe South Police Station; Mr. Jiang Yong Feng, teacher at Guangdong Trade Vocational Technical School; the CBDTIMES Project Team who have been supporting charity projects since 2013; and Ms. Lao Xiao Bin, a social worker at Guangzhou Huiling Home for Persons with Mental Disability.
According to a press release from Accorhotels, the global event was an opportunity for the company and its more than 250,000 employees to thank the people who are committed to serving their communities!
