If there was ever a place in China for a ridiculous kung-fu-related world record to be broken, Foshan would be it. Both the birthplace of legendary martial artist Ip Man and Bruce Lee’s ancestral home, Foshan is inextricably linked to all things kung fu.

So it should come as no surprise that the obscure world record for the most walnuts smashed by hand in under a minute was recently broken by a kung fu master in Foshan.

The new record: 302 walnuts smashed by Li Weijun’s bare hand in 55.87 seconds.

Li’s 302 busted nuts crushes the previous record of 212 walnuts in under a minute, set by Indian martial artist Prabhakar Reddy only a few weeks prior.

For over 27 years, Li has practiced various forms of Chinese martial arts, GB Times reported, including Wing Chun, Hard Qigong and Jeet Kune Do. He is also the current vice chairman of the Foshan Martial Arts Association.

As a result of daily ‘Iron Palm’ training, Li’s right palm is considerably larger than that of your average Joe, according to GB Times. Despite this, he told a reporter that his right arm was worn out after the record-breaking walnut massacre, and that he was unable to clench his fist.
